The Greatest How-To for Skyrim on the Internet

It's all here

Skyrim is an expansive game with a lot of content to explore, but it can be overwhelming for players who are new to the series.

So here are some questions that you might have about Skyrim and their answers!

What is Skyrim?

It’s the fifth installment in Bethesda Game Studios’ The Elder Scrolls series. It was released on November 11, 2011 after six years of development time, and has won numerous awards since release.

What platforms does Skyrim support?

Skryim supports PC (consoles coming soon), Mac OS X, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and mobile devices running iOS or Android OS.

How to get married in Skyrim?

To get married in Skyrim, you need to first obtain the Amulet of Mara. Once you have obtained the amulet from Maramal in Riften and completed the dialogue, you can then approach any marriagable NPCs.

However,  you must complete their prerequisite quest first. Once complete, you can then propose to them and then conduct the ceremony.

How to buy a house in Skyrim

To buy a house in Skyrim, you must first purchase the land that it sits on.

You can then ask your new friend to “buy” the home from them which will cost around 5000 gold pieces.

Once purchased, you can get rid of all your stuff and move right in!

How to buy land in Skyrim

To purchase land in Skyrim, open up your map and find the area where you would like to build a home. Once there, set off on some adventures or quests until one of your skills reaches 100 points (this can take quite awhile depending on how many levels are already in that skill).

After leveling up once, head back to Whiterun (one of the first cities you will come across) and speak to the Jarl (the big guy in charge). He should give you a quest that involves buying land.

Once this is done, go out into your world map again and find an area where no homes exist yet – open up your favorites menu to fast travel back there!

Clear out the land by killing enemies, then head back to whiterun and talk to the jarl again. He will give you a quest that involves finding out who owns the land – this NPC is usually in or near where you cleared all of your new property!

After speaking with them, they should agree to sell their home for cheap so long as you agree to exterminate all of the bandits/wolves, etc, that live nearby. After completing this, go back to Whiterun and talk with the jarl again – he will give you a quest called “Dragon Rising” which is basically your graduation exam for owning property! Complete it and BAM: You now own land in Skyrim!
